RESPONSIBILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY

Development to date

Since 1998, the Hochhuth GmbH has taken its responsibility seriously and supported other companies by providing innovative solutions to save energy and, from 2021, expanded to include fully integrated solutions for mapping all future requirements associated with the topic of sustainability.

Current status 2021

The Paris Agreement is the first comprehensive and legally binding global climate change agreement and was concluded in December 2015 at the Paris Climate Change Conference (COP21). This alliance defined a global framework that the world can use to counteract dangerous climate change. To this end, global warming is to be kept well below 2°C and further efforts are to be made to limit the rise in temperature to 1.5°C. The sustainable development of companies is supported not least by the products of Hochhuth GmbH.

With the Green Deal of the EU Commission, climate protection policy has found its way into the European Union. According to the Green Deal, Europe should become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, i.e. it should eliminate as many CO2 emissions as it produces. Currently, five EU member states have legally formulated the climate neutrality target: Germany and Sweden aim to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045; Denmark, France and Hungary by 2050.

EU - Green Deal

With the Green Deal, the EU aims to make the transition to a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy.

One-third of the investments from the NextGenerationEU construction package and the EU’s seven-year budget, totaling EUR 1.8 trillion, will go toward the Green Deal.

Climate Protection Act 2021

With the amendment to the Climate Protection Act, the German government is tightening up climate protection targets and anchoring the goal of greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045. Emissions are to be reduced by 65 percent by 2030 compared with 1990 levels.

UN Climate Change Conference UK 2021

The climate protection conference in Glasgow ended after just under two weeks with a final declaration recognized by around 200 countries. The declaration specifies the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and calls on the countries to adapt and improve their existing climate protection plans by the end of 2022.

In addition, for the first time in history, the international community has agreed on an energy transition away from coal combustion. Agreements were also reached on the technical implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement (cross-border emissions trading and reporting obligations).
